‘‘ La Oscurita’’

I go singing through the mountains this tender chacareda, little song of the humble, hope of my land. In the trunk of a tala tree I have a violin hidden to bewitch your waist with the light of its sound. When you said I love you, under the moon of the hill I will leave under my pillow the crystal of your memory. And even though I don't have you, I'm not afraid of being forgotten because the spirit of my kisses stayed to live with you. In the chest of the night there is a treasure of stars illuminating the path to your skin and your skirt. Sometimes I say your name softly by the river, and it seems to me that the foam also says it with me. Darkness of the path, little song of wood, let the star come out and chase away all my sorrows.
